New Car Service in Osborne Park

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Bongiornos Service Centre in Osborne Park, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Bongiornos Service Centre, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Bongiornos Service Centre for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

Get Your Car Ready Before the Cold Hits As temperatures begin to drop across Australia, many drivers underestimate just how much impact winter conditions can have on their vehicle. While Australian winters may not bring snow to every region, colder mornings, increased moisture, and reduced daylight hours all place added strain on your car. This is why a pre-winter service at Bongiornos Service Centre is one of the smartest decisions you can make to protect your vehicle and ensure safe, reliable driving throughout the season. Regular car servicing isn’t just about ticking boxes on a maintenance schedule. It’s about identifying small issues before they turn into inconvenient or costly problems. As winter approaches, these checks become even more important, as minor weaknesses in your vehicle are often exposed when conditions become harsher. Why Winter Conditions Affect Your Car More Than You Think Cold weather changes how your vehicle operates. Engine oil thickens, batteries lose efficiency, and components such as rubber hoses and belts become less flexible. Combine this with wet roads and reduced visibility, and your car needs to work harder to deliver the same level of performance and safety. A pre-winter inspection at Bongiornos Service Centre ensures your vehicle is prepared for these changes. Rather than reacting to breakdowns, you’re proactively maintaining your car’s reliability and extending its lifespan. Battery Performance – Avoid the Morning Surprise
One of the most common causes of winter breakdowns is battery failure. Lower temperatures reduce a battery’s ability to produce power, while at the same time, your engine requires more energy to start. If your battery is already weakened, winter is often when it finally gives up. During a pre-winter service, the team at Bongiornos Service Centre will test your battery’s condition, check charging output, and identify early signs of failure. Replacing a battery before it fails is far more convenient than dealing with a no-start situation on a cold morning. Battery Performance – Avoid the Morning Surprise
One of the most common causes of winter breakdowns is battery failure. Lower temperatures reduce a battery’s ability to produce power, while at the same time, your engine requires more energy to start. During a pre-winter service, the team at Bongiornos Service Centre will test your battery’s condition, check charging output, and identify early signs of failure. Replacing a battery before it fails is far more convenient than dealing with a no-start situation on a cold morning. Tyres and Grip – Staying in Control
Wet roads are a defining feature of winter driving in many parts of Australia. Tyres with worn tread or incorrect pressure can significantly reduce traction, increasing the risk of skidding or longer stopping distances. A proper inspection ensures your tyres are in good condition, correctly inflated, and wearing evenly. This not only improves safety but also enhances fuel efficiency and overall handling. Brakes – Confidence When You Need It Most
Your braking system becomes even more critical during winter, particularly in wet conditions. Moisture can affect braking performance, and worn components may not respond as effectively when you need them most. A pre-winter check at Bongiornos Service Centre includes a thorough inspection of brake pads, discs, and fluid condition, ensuring your vehicle can stop safely and predictably in all conditions. Visibility – Seeing and Being Seen
Winter driving often means darker mornings, earlier sunsets, and increased rain. Clear visibility is essential for safe driving, yet it’s often overlooked until there’s a problem. Worn wiper blades, low washer fluid, or faulty lights can all compromise your ability to see the road and be seen by other drivers. Replacing and checking these components during a service ensures you’re prepared for changing conditions. Engine Health and Fluids – The Foundation of Reliability
Your engine relies on a range of fluids to operate efficiently, including engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid. In colder weather, these fluids must perform under more demanding conditions. Old or degraded fluids can reduce performance and increase wear. A service at Bongiornos Service Centre ensures all vital fluids are at the correct levels and in good condition, helping your engine run smoothly throughout winter. Heating and Demisting – Comfort Meets Safety
While often overlooked, your vehicle’s heating and demisting systems play an important role in winter driving. A properly functioning system keeps the cabin comfortable and prevents fogging on the windscreen, which can quickly become a safety hazard. Ensuring these systems are working correctly is a key part of preparing your car for colder weather. The Value of Regular Servicing A pre-winter check is most effective when it forms part of a regular servicing routine. Vehicles that are consistently maintained are far less likely to suffer unexpected failures, regardless of the season At Bongiornos Service Centre, servicing is tailored to your vehicle’s make, model, and usage, ensuring nothing is overlooked. With access to quality parts, advanced diagnostics, and up-to-date service information, you can be confident your car is receiving the level of care it needs. Prepare Now, Drive with Confidence Later By booking a pre-winter service at Bongiornos Service Centre in Osborne Park, you’re taking a proactive step towards safer, more reliable driving. You’ll not only reduce the risk of breakdowns but also enjoy greater peace of mind every time you get behind the wheel. When the temperature drops, you’ll be glad your vehicle was ready for it...

What Vehicle Owners Need to Know If you’ve noticed your vehicle isn’t running quite as smoothly as it used to, fuel quality could be playing a bigger role than you think. Across Australia, changing fuel standards, supply pressures, and the increasing complexity of modern engines mean that fuel quality now has a direct impact on performance, reliability, and long-term engine health. At Bongiornos Service Centre in Osborne Park, we’re seeing more fuel-related issues than ever before—particularly in modern diesel vehicles. Why Fuel Quality Matters More in Modern Engines Today’s vehicles are designed with: High-pressure fuel injection systems Advanced emissions controls (DPF, EGR, catalytic converters) Extremely tight tolerances While this improves efficiency and reduces emissions, it also means: Modern engines are far less forgiving of poor or inconsistent fuel quality Even small variations in fuel can lead to: Carbon build-up Reduced fuel efficiency Increased wear on critical components Sensor and emissions system faults The Growing Issue for Diesel Engines Reduced Lubrication in Modern Diesel Fuel
Ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) is now standard across Australia. While it’s better for the environment, it has one major downside: It provides less natural lubrication This can lead to increased wear in: Fuel injectors High-pressure fuel pumps Over time, this wear can result in: Hard starting Loss of power Expensive component failure Contamination & Diesel “Bug” Fuel quality isn’t just about what leaves the refinery—it’s also about storage and handling. Diesel can be affected by: Water contamination Microbial growth (diesel bug) Sediment in tanks These issues can cause: Blocked fuel filters Injector damage Poor engine performance DPF & Emissions System Problems Modern diesel vehicles rely on Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) to reduce emissions. Poor fuel quality can: Increase soot production Prevent proper DPF regeneration Lead to blockages and warning lights This is one of the most common issues we see at Bongiornos Service Centre in Osborne Park. Petrol Vehicles Aren’t Immune Either Carbon Build-Up in Direct Injection Engines
Many modern petrol vehicles use direct injection, which is efficient—but comes with a trade-off: Fuel no longer washes over intake valves This makes engines more prone to: Carbon build-up Rough idle Reduced performance Lower-quality fuel with fewer detergents can accelerate this problem significantly. Sensor & Catalyst Damage
Fuel with higher sulphur or inconsistent composition can: Contaminate oxygen sensors Reduce catalytic converter efficiency Trigger engine warning lights Signs Your Vehicle May Be Affected by Fuel Quality If your vehicle is experiencing any of the following, fuel quality could be a contributing factor: Loss of power Rough idle or misfiring Increased fuel consumption Hard starting Warning lights (engine, DPF, emissions) Excessive smoke (diesel vehicles) How Bongiornos Service Centre in Osborne Park Can Help At Bongiornos Service Centre, we understand how modern engines respond to Australian fuel conditions.
